As the nation battles the COVID-19 pandemic, we at DRU Mondawmin Healthy Families are taking serious precautions to safeguard our staff and the Baltimore City families we serve. As a safety measure, we are closing our office to the public on Friday March 20, at 5:30 p.m.
Until further notice, we have suspended in-home visitations, but we will continue to serve our DRUM families. All Family Support Specialists (FSSs) will meet with their respective families by telephone or video conferencing. Families can reach their FSSs by cell phone. Other parties who wish to reach DRUM can still contact us via our main number at 410-225-3555, as needed.
It is our top priority to ensure that all DRUM families continue to have access to our staff and resources. In the coming days, we will mail our coronavirus continuity plan to families to ensure that everyone who does not have access to the internet is still informed about our changes due to the coronavirus.
Upon scheduled request, we will deliver via doorstep or porch drop, literacy packs and emergency supplies to help “bridge” participant needs at this time. The literacy packs will provide educational activities suitable for children from preschool to age 7. Our FSSs will provide further details to families.
We are also working with our community partners, including the Jewish Volunteer Connection, to gather and distribute donated soap, hygiene kits, and non-perishables to our families’ homes.
Our on-site WIC Office through Johns Hopkins WIC HOPE will continue to provide virtual subsidies. Call the WIC office for more information at 410-614-4848.
There are a variety of other resources available to Baltimore City families during the COVID-19 crisis. To learn more about free lunches, daily lessons, and other resources provided through Baltimore City Public Schools, click here.
