BALTIMORE 10/27/16 – DRU/Mondawmin Healthy Families (DRUM), an evidence-based nonprofit that supports families with pregnant women and young children in Baltimore City, has announced its annual DRUM’ing for Healthy Families fundraiser scheduled for Thursday, November 3, 2016.
The event will feature “Families on the Runway to Success” from the DRUM program presented by nationally recognized fashion icon Travis Winkey. Additionally, attendees can expect a silent auction, wines and hors d’oeuvres, dinner provided by Forum Caterers, and smooth jazz entertainment. Participants will also learn more about the DRUM program and hear from the families served over its 17-year history.
“We are overjoyed to celebrate the families we’ve supported over the years,” said DRUM Executive Director Kimberli Hammonds. “Our DRUM’ing for Healthy Families fundraiser is about gathering our supporters and the community to honor these amazing families and to carry on our mission to reduce the Baltimore’s infant mortality rate, foster tight-knit families, and ensure more five-year-olds are prepared for kindergarten.”
DRUM is the only standalone home-visiting agency for families in Baltimore City. Its team of more than a dozen family support workers visits families, conducts child development assessments, and links parents to resources in the 21201, 21215, 21216, 21217, and in Northeast Baltimore neighborhoods.
